I’ve gotten to know Amy pretty well over the last couple of years-you may recognize her as one of my awesome assistants. She knows me pretty well, too, not only personally, but professionally, so it was a complete honor that she and Billy asked me to photograph their wedding on July 8th at the Golden Gardens Bathhouse, especially since she knows how goofy I can be when I shoot! Amy met Billy years and years ago; they were highschool sweethearts.

They love the beach, so naturally the Bathhouse was one of their first choices as venues. It’s fairly new on the scene, and since it’s a total blank slate with it’s brick walls and high rustic rafters, sand dunes, and grassy fields, they could decorate it however they wanted to (now if they could only build a private parking lot just for the wedding guests- it gets pretty crazy down there since the Bathhouse also sits on one of Seattle’s most popular beaches!!).

Since Amy has seen many a wedding with me, she knew just where to go and just the amount of attention she wanted to pay to her details- they were fabulous. From the summery invitations to the mini star fish on the grooomsmen’s boutonnieres, the whimsical cake, and the swag hanging from the rafters (because ceilings are more important than you would ever imagine to a photographer- they make it into at least half of the pictures!!). She included her grandmother’s cross on her bouquet, they had a limbo contest (guess who won… I couldn’t believe they went so low!), the cigars that Billy brought for his friends to smoke, and the truffles that her uncle’s truffle company made as favors for all the guests. It was surely an event that I won’t forget.
